What you will do: To obtain this certification you will be required to complete three components:
First, you will complete your knowledge development training, where you will learn about scuba diving principles and terminology. This may be accomplished in two ways. The first option is the traditional method by watching the PADI Open Water Diver video and answering the questions in your PADI diver manual. Your instructor will then go over the information with you to ensure comprehension. Option two is by completing the PADI eLearning. This independent study makes it easy to fit scuba lessons into a busy schedule. Complete it whenever, wherever it's convenient for you. Work at your own pace, online or offline, using a computer or mobile device.
Next, you will complete your confined water training where you will take your first breaths underwater, learn hand signals and perform scuba skills.
The final component consists of 4 open water dives, during which you will demonstrate mastery of a portion of the skills you learned during your confined water training. In addition you will learn the basics of underwater navigation while using a compass.
